DISCLAIMER (Renee Knight) - October 25/24

Though this got off to a slow start, I eventually found myself pretty riveted. I had assumed that when you find out what she did all those years ago, the book would run out of steam but the ingenious twist that all that stuff was made up by Nancy kind of blew my mind, so I was riveted right through to the end. ***1/2 out of ****

FINE THINGS (Danielle Steele) - October 19/24

This book feels about four times longer than necessary. And it’s full of needless digressions, including a lengthy one involving Jane’s scumbag dad and the kidnapping. Steele needed to edit this thing down considerably. ** out of ****

INTERMEZZO (Sally Rooney) - October 8/24

Well this is some book. The stream of consciousness thing really took some time to get used to, and the book, on the whole, does feel wildly overlong but I did enjoy it. Rooney does a terrific job of vividly developing these characters and I’ll admit did get a little choked up at the end when Ivan and Peter reconciled. *** out of ****
