THE BRASS VERDICT (Michael Connelly) - August 25/26

I’m not sure why I was dragging my feet during the first half of this because it’s actually really good and very fast paced (in the second half). The pairing of Haller and Bosch is a good one, although I did want more Bosch (of course). ***1/2 out of ****

DOUBLE CROSS (James Patterson) - August 20/26

This one kind of dragged, somehow. And Patterson’s writing style kind of jars after spending so much time in Connelly’s universe. **1/2 out of ****

THE HOLLOW PLACES (T. Kingfisher) - August 12/26

I like the idea of this book more (much more) than I enjoyed reading it. It’s just so long and padded out, and it’s also incredibly descriptive. I did glaze over long stretches. It could be a decent movie, though. ** out of ****

DIE TRYING (Lee Child) - August 4/25

I basically enjoyed this but holy hell is it way too long. I could’ve easily done without all the non-Reacher stuff. I wasn’t even able to keep track of a couple of the characters. But there’s some really good Reacher stuff here. *** out of ****
